Kicking off for Spread a Smile

By Danny Imray Managing Director

At DNA, we know that people matter more than anything – so we always do our best to help our fellow man. This year we wanted to do something extra special to help others, and raise some cash for charity that we know will go to a really good cause. So we teamed up with our friends at LMAC Group Ltd to host a fundraising football day in support of Spread a Smile.

Bringing happiness to the people who need it

Spread a Smile is a lovely charity that’s on a mission to bring joy and laughter to seriously ill children and their families when they’re in hospital for long periods of time. By organising entertaining events, outings, art workshops, hospital visits and more, Spread a Smile offers a distraction from the pain and treatment these ill children and teenagers are facing on a daily basis and gives them a reason to smile again.

What they do helps create precious memories for families and has a positive impact on young people during the toughest of times – so we wanted to host a day that would be fun for us, but great for them.

Team players

Our fearless leader Danny teamed up with Lee McDowell from LMAC Group to organise a sponsored football tournament with teams made up of clients, contractors, friends and family – all in the name of Spread a Smile.

Hosted at Billericay Football Club, 15 teams fought it out on the pitch, with South East Metals being crowned the winners. Throughout the day, we had a barrel load of laughs with old and new friends, and got to see some fantastic football played. There were even appearances from some ex-professionals, semi-professionals and Sunday League players. Danny gave the loudest cheers from the side lines, while Lee strapped his boots on for his first match in 10 years.

Back of the net result

So after all that, how did we do? Well, we’re proud to report that we managed to raise an amazing £20,404 for Spread a Smile – and the whole team at DNA Insurance want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved who made the day so special.

Thanks go to our sponsors Sullivan White, Oscar Fairchild accountants, Pierce Linnen, Dan McDonald, Sentra Security, Clark Electrical Industries Ltd, George Bridle (Vision Personnel Ltd) and The Steel Team Limited.
